Taco Burgers
By combining your own spices to make taco seasoning, you can easily avoid adding stuff like MSG to your meal. The finely chopped carrots and grated onion will help keep the burgers moist as you grill them.
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
- 1 egg
- 1 cup finely chopped carrots
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ¼ cup grated onion
- ½ tsp. chili powder
- ¼ tsp. oregano
- ½ tsp. ground cumin
- ¼ tsp. sea salt
- ½ tsp. black pepper
- 4 slices sharp cheddar or pepper jack cheese
- ½ cup salsa
- ½ cup guacamole
- 4-6 wheat hamburger buns
Instructions
- Mix together all of the ingredients except the cheese, salsa and hamburger buns. Form the meat mixture into 4-6 patties, depending on how big you want them to be; keep in mind that they will shrink as they cook. Place on the grill over medium-high heat and cook, turning once, until the internal temperature measures 160 degrees F. Melt the cheese on top of the patties. Serve on the buns with salsa and guacamole if desired.
