Pound Cake
Another of my childhood favorites. I love to serve this (unfrosted) with sliced strawberries and whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 2 cups butter (real butter, no substitutes)
- 2 cups sugar
- 8 eggs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
Instructions
- Cream together butter and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.
- Add salt and vanilla extract.
- Mix flour and baking powder together.
- Add to liquid mixture and beat well.
- Pour into a greased 10-inch tube pan or bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
- Increase heat to 375 degrees and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Remove cake from oven and let it cool slightly.
- Remove from pan to finish cooling.
- Frost with Creamy Butter Frosting.
