Hot Cocoa Mix
Many hot cocoa mixes use powdered milk and are made with boiling water. These mixes are good, but I also like the mixes that are designed to be prepared with milk. These mixes are more versatile for people who have dairy allergies or prefer not to consume dairy products (substitute soy, rice, or almond milk). Darker varieties of chocolate work well with this recipe and make the finished product rich and yummy. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 8 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
Instructions
- In a food processor fit with the knife blade, combine cocoa, sugar, chocolate and salt. Process mixture until smooth. To give as a gift, package cocoa mix in a jar, filling the top inch with mini marshmallows. Don’t forget a little card with directions for preparing the cocoa!
- To prepare cocoa: Combine 3 tablespoons of mix with 8 ounces (1 cup) hot milk. Serve hot.
