Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast (2¼ tsp.)
- ½ cup warm water (110 – 120 degrees)
- 1tsp. + 1 T. sugar
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
- oil for frying
Instructions
- Place flour in a medium sized bowl. In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, combine water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Let rest for about 5 minutes, or until it starts to bubble and froth. Add yeast mixture, 1 tablespoon sugar, and oil to flour. Combine and knead for a couple of minutes to form the dough.
- Let dough rest while you head oil (about ¾ inch deep) to 325 degrees.
- Combine 1 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl to roll the hot donut holes after they are cooked.
- Roll a portion of the dough until it is about ½ inch thick. Using a 1-inch circle cutter, cut out donut holes. Place in hot oil, but do not crowd. Using metal tongs, turn donut holes after 2-3 minutes, or when they have browned slightly. Once cooked, remove from the hot oil and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Cool slightly on a wire rack and serve.
